Today was the day to take everything down and clean, clean, clean.
I took all the slats out of my table and cleaned all the dross off, burnt-stuck metal and also did a good cleaning of my down draft collector and literally everything.
Pulled all the scrap that had dropped into the down draft collector, vacuumed, swept and washed everything.
I like to do this very often to keep all of my tables parts clean and free of dust.
My question is..... What kind of lube do you folks use for bearings and moving parts?????
I have always used a dry Teflon spry or dry lubricant.
It seems to do fine but I am always wondering how well it realy lubes things under such harsh conditions.
Just wanting to get some ideas.
I try not to let metal dust collect for very long on anything when possible but when things get busy sometimes you can't help it so complete tear down is required sometimes.
I will say this. After pulling at least 100lbs of scrap and dust out from the down draft, I am going to make a tray from expanded metal to catch all the falling pieces that drop.
This way after cutting I can reach down a grab these things with little effort.
Yesterday I pulled the cover off my hypertherm and cleaned all filters and used compressed air to clean all circuit boards and everything else inside. After that I figured I should do everything else today.
Like I said, I do this very often and I figured summer is on it's way and now would be a good time for some early spring cleaning.
So if anyone has any better ideas or products for lubricating, please let me know.
Thanks

Re: Lubricating table bearings, moving parts and so on question
I've not used my new table enough to do any maintainance on it yet
I do keep the rails clean and rust free by spraying "PB Blaster" on a clean shop rag and wiping it the full length of the rails and any other shiny surfaces.
I have the material to make the slats for my table, so hopefully I'll be using the table soon!

I spray some lubricant in a yellow can on my rails every few days. I can't remember the name, but it's just some lubricant. That's about all the maintenence I do so you got me beat....
