Just wondering what everyone does with the back of your artwork pieces.... The husband and I are arguing about it. He says it should be just about the same as the front (ground down smooth etc) and I tell him that if he thinks I have that much time on my hands.... well I wont say the rest...
What do you guys do?

I always grind them smooth. It just looks nicer. use a flap disk on a high speed grinder 60 grit.

I have to agree with Greg. It's not that hard to do. If you have the right consumables, dry air, correct amperage and the right feedrate, the resulting dross usually comes off with minimal effort. I usually slap the piece down flat on a layout table a couple of times and then hit it with a wire cup brush on a grinder. At that point, 90% of the slag is gone. A quick lap around the piece with a blending wheel and you're done!

Re: The backside of your product
I clean off all the slag off both sides then usually do a cheaper paint on the back if I can, I like to use flat black on the back if I can, but sometimes I have to use the same color as the front. Sometimes I'll clearcoat the back if I feel I need to, but I always get rid of the slag on the back.
My dad once told me: You can always tell a true craftsmans work by looking at the back of the piece.

I am still floored that you got through that whole post without saying anything about the "backside of YOUR product..."

The slag on the smaller parts we cut is difficult to clean. We use muratic acid. Put the parts in overnight (use eye protection and rubber gloves) and then remove and put in a solution of water and baking soda to neutralize the acid.
It not only cleans the slag but removes all reside and oil.
