Machine Torch - Aftermarket vs Hypertherm?
Hi. I am planning to mount my 85 onto a Plasma Table and want a machine torch for it. I wondered if the aftermarket torches have any effect on cut quality? If I can't answer the question, I will buy an OEM Machine Torch, but if it is just as good at cutting, I will save money because my pockets have bottoms.

The Duramax machine torch is the way to go, you will have the cheapest cuts with it.

Google Bakergas.com and check out the price there, you will need the part number for the torch to get an good price. I just ordered a machine torch (15 foot cable) for the PM45 I have and the price was $600 less the consumables. the ohmic sensor retaining cap, swirl ring, and shield was another $70, electrode and nozzle are the same for the handheld torch.

"you will need the part number for the torch to get an good price."
I am confused as to how I determine the part number.?
I can call Hypertherm tomorrow and ask what torch my machine needs.

Click on the Torch and cable options, I went with a 50' lead on the 6x12 table and have about 12 ft to spare. I figured it would be easier to wrap the spare than to stretch it a few feet.
The inner 2 wraps are the spare, the outer wraps is the hand torch used in harvesting of the leftovers.

Re: Machine Torch - Aftermarket vs Hypertherm?
David it is odd as it does not say Duramax (059476)but the other number for a 25' lead (059477) does say in compatible with the older 45 machines. And the other duramax torches say compatible with older 45 machines
Ok this link is the Hypertherm torches, and it shows different options for them https://bakersgas.com/collections/hyper ... asma-torch
I bought the 059476 machine torch with 15' cable no consumables then bought the consumables in another order.
When you look at a torch to buy there are options like cable length and if it has consumables with it, and what machine it works with.
If you click on the compatible tag it shows which machine it will work with see attached image

Depending on your table size and cable layout you may want the 25' lead torch part # 059477 but either way the M85 torch with a lead length that works for you is what you want.

Thanks for that update! As long as it fits your 45 and will accept the Duramax style consumables, then you are "home free".acourtjester wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 9:33 am David it is odd as it does not say Duramax (059476)but the other number for a 25' lead (059477) does say in compatible with the older 45 machines.
