New here

Post by Turboram »

Hi all I'm new to the board have been search for a while but first time post. I have a home made table I built myself. The equipment is as follows 4x4 running mach 3 fully licensed, sheet cam, I have a price cnc avhc10 thc, a floating torch head on my z, using a Victor thermal Dynamics cutmaster 102 as my plasma. My question is with the price cnc post processor I can get my table to cut clean but only with the thc off in mach3. If I turn it on my torch raises almost a inch and a half above the steel and the cuts out. If I try a post processor like mach3 thc with scriber it references zero then moves all the way up to my home switch, stops and the continues to move up bending my switch. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks a bunch

Well to start with with plasma you home negative for the Z, this is setup in Mach3 under "home/limits". I am using the same setup only with Hypertherm Plasma. I do not think you need to have the THC on in Mach as the Price unit signals Mach with up and down and the arc OK just signals the Price unit. This allows you to do test runs without the Price on and it will go through the motions without the plasma on. I do use a Ohmic sensor with the Probe signal for the touch off signal. Are you using the Price post processor?

Acourtjester yes I am using the price post processor. And it seems like no matter what settings I change I can't get the torch to go to the correct pierce height or cut height after it touches off. It does the touch off perfectly every time it Pierce's but then moves up to right around 3/4 of an inch.the wierd thing is the dro for the z axis reads the correct cut height. So then I checked my calibration on the z and it was spot on 1" =1" so this is where I'm getting lost

So am I supposed to run the ok to move wire from the back of my plasma to my breakout board? I was under the impression that the price thc generates it's on ark ok when it sees the voltage from the torch. Correct me if I'm wrong

If you look at this diagram it shows the signal from the Plasma to the Price controller is only the arc voltage, The price unit sends the signal to the BOB one is the arc Ok signal. Another thing is have you looked in the post processor for your switch offset, this is in the function "OnPenDown" I an using an Ohmic sensor so my switch offset is very small (G31) floating head switches will be larger (G28).
Have you run the test function to see if the signals are going to the correct location on the BOB

I have everything wired like the diagram shows and I did the test on screen six all my lights lit up appropriately. When I first set up all the pins and ports I also went to the mill tab and checked "allow thc control even when not active" and up until last night I had to have active low checked next to the thc pins in order to get it out of an e stop mode. Then last night I realized that check box was causing that, so once I unchecked it I was able to uncheck the active low by the thc pins. I did also go into the post to edit the switch offset and when I check my switch it was right around .425 inches. I did some reading last night and noticed on the price site the factory is .7 mm not inches. So I converted mine to mm thinking the post was in metric and it still made no difference the pierce and cut height is still way off. When I had time this morning to play around I could see the price was sending out the signals but the z wasn't doing anything. One other thing that I noticed was in the cut chart for 3/16 it calls for 140 volts but when I cut and watch the price it's up around 265 volts, and that's with the 50:1 divider in the 45xp slot on the isolation module. If I put the wires in just the + - the volts are around 362 is what I was seeing.
