Black fx not staying black

I've been making Cross cut sawblades with animal scenes on them using copper fx first the hitting a few spots and edges with the black. Recently though I noticed when I apply the black it looks great initially but after a few hours the black fades and after I clear it it is hardly noticeable on the piece. I've used it before with great success so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong now or what's going on. Any ideas?

I would get ahold of the manufacturer/ supplier (Bill Worden). I haven't used that stuff yet, but downloaded the free ebook. and he seems really helpful as well. Bill probably has the answer

I do believe it is best to clear as soon as possible. Maybe waiting several hours is allowing the acid to still work and change?
