I'm having trouble with the stencil fonts I have found and someone suggested making my own. Can someone give me the step by step way to do
this please. I have a feeling it's using the rectangle and "difference" on "regular letters"..but I'd like some guidance on how to do it.
I am looking to make stencil letters that when I cut them out, what is remaining is readable. so, say, a 2 x 4 sign that has letters cut out.
thanks!!!

I use CAD for most of my drawings but there is a program called deskengrave that will convert most fonts you have installed into dxf format which can then be imported into inkscape. You may also try searching the forum for stencil fonts I seem to recall other users posting some of their work.

On second thought, That may not work for inkscape since the dxf generated is broken into segments. Here is a quick run of my standard stencil font in svg format. May need some work but its a good start. Just ungroup the parts and have at it.
