Edit svg file

Post by karensmc »

I'm trying to edit a SVG file and I can't get anything to work. I want to replace some text on a file that I found and it won't ungroup. Is there something else I can try? I want to replace the "FFA" with 4H. any help would be greatly appreciated! I have several ones that I want to do this with.
thanks!

Here you go Karen. Hope this helps. The easiest way for me was to delete the nodes for FFA and then add 4H by using the Union function. Took me about 3 minutes.

I have found that you can use the "break apart" function under Path will sometimes separate different sections. If you do that and it turns it all black go to the fill and stroke function and click on the X under fill this will make it so you don't see anything, then click on stroke and give it a color then you will see the outlines for all the sections. Using your mouse select one section you can then move it or delete it. Zooming in helps if you want to get even smaller sections to work with. Some lettering will be each letter will be separate it depends on how it was joined in the original.
attached image shows how it looks sometimes, you can also use the node tool to remove nodes to break things apart too but that is more involved.
