trying to wrap mu head around converting some lines

so in my drawing the wavy lines are bezier curves with just the stroke thickness modified for each one. i need them to be polygons or long wavy rectangles if you will, so that i can union them with the rest of the drawing beacuse if i try to union the bezier curve with a letter i get this.thanks in advance
