Shipping and lost package
I shipped a sign out to a customer by USPS, tracking number says left on front porch customer says its not there. The insurance is useless cause it says delivered. Has anyone ever ran into this? The customer is trying to contact the local USPS and see if it was delivered to the wrong address or if it even delivered. I imagine they are going to want me to take the hit on this.

Which raises a pretty big flaw in the system for the safe deliveries for one of a kind products we all produce, when a mistake by the USPS becomes untraceable the second the mail carrier declares the package delivered or worse yet, an unscrupulous customer. Just because I'm a little jaded, I'd be very suspicious of the latter if the customers demands a refund or the item you sent is something that isn't personalized.
It's a tough spot, since the cost and trouble to demand a signature delivery can affect sales.
I hope it works out. Maybe someday mail carriers will have body-cams recording everything for these reasons. Everyone's delivery insurance costs would go up, but at least it would actually pay for a real solution.

I have seen it when it's marked delivered and it doesn't arrive until the next day.
Also sometimes my customers shipping address is different than what is on their PayPal. Did you confirm their address?
The rest of the time people are stupid and it was delivered and they just don't know if.

I suggest to the customer that I send it with signature required. If the customer says no, I say that I'm not responsible for lost or damaged orders. They say OK. I do this via email so I have a record. I still have people trying to put losses on me, but I just quote the email.

We have reached a point where drive by shopping is uncontrollable and the delivery person has completed their task by dropping it off. It seem like a signature required is the only way to go.

Yeah its messed up the way they have it setup. I have read that the carriers mark them delivered as soon as they put it on the truck. Its a personalized piece so its no good to anyone but them. I had them look all over their place and check with neighbors they are also going to check with the actual carrier. We will see what happens she hasn't said anything about money yet if so i will be out around 100.00

Some time back I had some one (I did not know) call from 2 streets over to tell me they had my package UPS just messed up and did not know it.

I would heavily push the carrier to show proof it was delivered.
UPS has gotten terrible lately. We are big Amazon buyers so we have packages coming all the time. UPS has made a policy in Texas to not drop off the package at the door due to damage the driver causes in driving the truck into houses.(Perhaps better drivers is worth considering?). So anyways, our house sits on about 6 acres with the house at the back of the lot. In about half the packages we get via UPS, the driver will literally drop our package in the grass next to our mailbox/fence. This has happened in the rain, at 10pm at night, a box of groceries in a fire ant pile, etc.. We've called UPS multiple times to complain and the supervisor said it was now policy because of damage to homes.
Now we are complaining to Amazon every time this happens hoping that Amazon will take care of it with the leverage they have.

Yeah UPS is horrible I just moved and tried to have a package delivered. UPS wouldn't even put my package on the truck for delivery because they said the address wasn't any good. Fedex found my place no problem people these days just want everything easy.

I sell led light bars and sxs/atv accessories and anything over about $150 is signature required and I always get tracking.
I had a $350 light bar walk away from some ones apt. I ate the cost and shipped a new one but from that day on the customer has to sign.

I think i am gonna start doing the signature required before a trend starts. It seems that when you have one problem it starts to snowball. I had a lady contact me today and say that paypal paid me twice for an item. I checked and i didn't get paid twice hell its hard to get paid once. I told her to contact paypal and her cc company cause its their mistake.

Update! The lady found the package thank god. The rest of the story, I just found out that the lady who ordered had it sent to her mother as a gift. Her mother actually got the package Saturday when it was left on the porch. I am still puzzled on what happened. It seems like they were planning something then backed out.
