Catastrophic electrode and nozzle failure

Ok so the title is a bit misleading
Dynatorch 5'x10' hypertherm 1250 with a duramax torch we-cim nesting using a refrigerated air dryer as well.
3/8" carbon steel plates.
tried the newer electrodes for one of my projects. 601 pierces for each plate 4 plates. I was getting 2 plates per set of consumables. I have another job that requires 425 pierces per plate. I did 4 of the 601's and 4 of the 425 pierce plates and have a new set of consumables left.
The regular consumables I get around 900 pierces + or -.

Wait till you try the copper plus electrodes! Only on 1/2" and thinner though...

I'll give them a try next time around.
I do have a problem with the duramax torch though.
This problem is intermittent,I might get 100 pierces till it happens or it might give me 5 misfires in a row.(the torch doesn't even try to fire so misfire might be misleading)
The machine will send signal to pierce and my machine wont fire. What I've found out is if I loosen the retaining cap and tighten it the machine fires.
Believe me it took me quite a while to figure out why it wouldn't fire. But every time it doesn't fire this is the culprit.

Any ideas?

If the torch misfires....there will be an error signal at the power supply.....what do you see there?

Poor wording on my part.
It doesn't misfire. The torch drops touches the plate pauses and retracts. Error on screen that torch didn't fire and asking me to retry.

If the torch receives a start signal from the machine....but does not fire...there will be an immediate error code on the LED diagnostic panel on the Powermax. There are about 80 different error codes. The error code will go away if you hit your cycle start button again....look at the error code, look it up in the troubleshooting section of the Powermax manual, or contact me and we'll figure out what is happening.
