Inkscape to sheetcam

I am trying to get fonts that I draw on inkscape and save as dxf (or any format for that matter) to load into sheet cam. I have also tried to use lazy cam. I am getting a " cant read spline error" and cant figure a way around it. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it... Thanks

anything saved in Inkscape to be used in sheetcam needs to be in a path format.
If you click on the path/nodes icon and then move the mouse to that object you will see a red outline for a second and if you click on it then the nodes will display on it.
No path no usable file saved

Just to add to this... Sheetcam, in its latest update, converts .svg files really well, without the need to go to .dxf first from Inkscape; so as long as all of the shapes on your drawing are converted to path/nodes like jester said above, Sheetcam will run fine directly from the .svg native file-type that Inkscape uses.

I have tried putting text in path form the way you explained. Will it load in sheetcam in that form

If your text has no paths when you check it as per the instructions above, select the text then click on "path" and "object to path".
That will create the paths needed to use in sheetcam.
