I am new to plasma cutting and Inkscape but have over 20yrs. of experience in the CNC machine shop business and programming lathes and machining centers. When I trace a jpg using Inkscape I can never get Mastercam to open the dxf. It locks up and closes Mastercam. I am more familiar and can navigate around Mastercam better and would like to finish my work with that program rather than Inkscape. I only use Inkscape to trace but can never get a usable dxf file.
This forum is an invaluable source of info to plasma newbies like me and any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

What I suspected all along took a while for me to figure out but here is my solution in case anyone else has this problem.
Inkscape save as (R13)(*.DXF) is not recognized by Mastercam ver 9. What you have to do is save your Inkscape trace, open it in another program such as DraftSight and then save as (R12) (*.DXF) which Mastercam can now recognize.
Boom!
