Spot on Dave

I hope that makes sense :!: you can have the same drawing but cut it from different materials and using different consumables
so the cost to cut can be different but it still has the same number of pierces.
I know the cost of consumables in the whole scheme of things isnt a biggy but it is a cost to us
I was taught old school "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" ;)

only asking if its doable :?:
Best Regards to all

see my edit on the last post - the feature is already there :)

dropdown list on bottom of form - "Cost Per Pierce" - just set it wherever you want and recalculate, it gets saved with the job :)

his is seriously odd, the version that i download is 3.0.26 - miles ahead of your download and the reason why you are struggling i think.
Ok, it appears I am running Version 3.0.25 which was the latest.
SheetCam output is correct material size.
PlasmaEstimator is off by a decimal point.

Thats odd, I thought this issue was fixed.

I will take another look at it tomorrow, I know what it is, just thought it was fixed.

Will post when done.

I'm unable to modify the part count. It's grayed out for me. Is there a way to change that? Also, when I do change that, will it keep design cost as a fixed number, or will it multiply that x part count?

I want to say "thank you" for this program. As a brand new cutter, I was lost on how to reasonably figure pricing. I had planned on simply following Jim Colt's advice (which seems to be the basis for this program). The ability to add in finish costs, etc is great.

Also, is there a way to modify existing metal pricing, vs deleting current pricing and adding new pricing?

Thanks!

Part count is fixed if it is loaded from a sheet cam report - the part you load is what you get, manually created jobs are variable.

Yes you can edit material costs directly - go to setup and click the "Edit material costs direct" button, its just a simple text file and should load up in NotePad, just be careful when editing not to change the format etc.

I'm glad you like it - the reason you like it is the reason I made it - I was new and stuck for price data so it developed from there;)

Just thought I'd add...customer had one of the panels I cut for him powder coated. Coater charged $40 per panel. The Plasma Estimator quotes $39.45 per panel. Looks like it's dead-on for pricing, at least in my area. Extremely helpful program for the "clueless newbie" like me. Thanks!

New version uploaded.

I have added a primer-only feature to finishing costs and fixed the printed report which was missing a few numbers ;)

As always, backup your costs files before updating, you will also need to go to setup and enter your costs for primer only option.

Looks like we can now modify the # of parts needed, after importing the file information from the Sheetcam report!

Current version should be 3.1.30

I gather you are getting the just the updated .exe file not the whole package file - this one is only used once for the first install.

On the site there are just two downloads, first is the full install package, second is the latest update exe file, just downloaded myself and checked and they are still there and correct.

Not sure what is going on there, but you are visiting this page...

No worries, glad you got there in the end :)

Future updates are just a matter of dropping the new file into the folder, replacing the existing one.

Set up your currency and units first, then the labour rates and costs.

dave:
Just a question. When I download the latest update file and unzipping into a folder there is always a MACOSX folder that contains a Plasma Estimator V3.exe file but it is only 1K in size. The root folder contains the same file but it is of substance. Is there a reason for this?

Yes, I zipped it on a MAC laptop - its invisible to me, as you said, its nothing, just bin it and use the proper sized file which was from a windows system.

Thanks

Another question...I deleted the included metal types/prices:

""2.5mm Steel CR",.00415
"3.0mm Corten Steel",.00581
"4.0mm Corten Steel",.00739
"1.2mm 304 Stainless",.00509
"3.0mm 304 Stainless",.00714"

as I don't use metric. :)

I replaced them with the units I wanted (gauge, inch plate, etc). Now, in my setup screen, the metric materials do NOT show up. The inch version do. Good deal. However, when I click on "edit materials data file directly" button, it shows ONLY the metric materials, and NOT the inch materials. I'm assuming the new version of the app is storing it's data in a different place than the "edit materials data file directly" button points to?
