Finally got nice enough that I could open the garage door for a bit and take a short video. This is a modified motorcycle lift from Northern Tool that I removed the hydraulic jack from and installed an air/hydraulic jack and welded a rack on top to hold 48"x96" sheets of steel. I only plan on stocking a couple of gauges so just built it as a double rack. I installed some good metal casters, non stearable, and a track system for them to ride in. Goind to use it a while to see what modifications are needed if any. I am going to pipe the valve for the air hydraulics to a valve on the side of the table also.

Re: Sheet Metal Storage and Lift
Nice idea interested to see your final product. I'm assuming you are using a lift magnet and hydraulic lift to move the sheet from your new storage rack to the table???

The final product is shown in the video, click on the link above the photo.
I do not have a magnet to lift. The hydraulic lift is the same height as the table and my pickup. The handle on the storage rack removes and I can back my pickup up to the storage rack and slide sheets into it. Put the handle back on and push it under the table until needed. So far working as planned.

Re: Sheet Metal Storage and Lift
A very clever idea. I've been mulling over ideas for handling and storing sheets, and this is yet another idea to think about.
Thanks a lot, Steve

Re: Sheet Metal Storage and Lift
I had seen this video when you posted it. Very clever idea and well executed. My problem is I don't have that much room to move sheets around and store, or I would have borrowed your idea.!!Here is another one to mull over as well,

Perfect timing on this excellent Job-Hack!! There's a guy that's practically giving this away because he has no room. Now I know exactly how to use it! Thanks!!

Re: Sheet Metal Storage and Lift
Is that one of those hydraulic tables? I had thought about modifying one of those but the ones that go high enough were more expensive than the motorcycle lift.
