Hey everybody,
Just another fab question.
I am building another gate for a customer who is going to install their own electric opener.
Usually I build them so they can just bolt the brackets on themselves.
This time the customer wants me to weld a bracket to the gate so they can bolt the actuator bracket to the plate (design of the gate makes this the only option)
What length should I factor in from the gate edge to the center of the welded bracket? (distance)
He is not sure what system he is going to use but he still wants a bracket welded in place to mount the opener to.
Does anyone out there have an idea of the space needed from the gate edge to the center of the mounting bracket?
I have called everbody in town who sells these things and none are willing to give me a closed actuator length.
I guess they don't want to open the package.
I included a dxf file so you can see what I am talking about.
Thanks again everybody.

Re: Another fab question
I measured the bracket on my gate and the measurement that your looking for is 38". That is from the edge of the gate to the center of the bracket where the arm from the opener connects. That is on a 12' gate using a DK opener.
Hope that helps.

Re: Another fab question
Randy,
Thanks a lot.
The one I am building is 16 foot long, I wonder if that will change the length at all?
I did a search on the web and found the mighty mule actuator to be 41-1/4 when fully retracted.
Your 38" sounds right on when you factor in the hinge space.
I will make his bracket a little on the long side so he has room to play with it.
Thanks for checking that for me.
Shawn.
