DXF issues
I am new to inkscape and everytime i load a DXF file to inkscape it has an outline around the lines, how do I remove it. I have already tried opening them up in Qcad and saving them as a SVG but it still has the lines around them. hers is picture of my problem.

Re: DXF issues
Load the image into Inksacpe and select it then click on Path and in the drop down click on trace to bitmap.
This brings up another menu and reduce the number of colors in the box click on update and then go to the original image and drag the trace off it and delete the original adn then save it

I just tried that and its not tracing it out. Maybe I am just an idiot. When I select the edit nodes tool and move over the drawing it shows the lines and where the nodes are. Im just trying to figure out the way to remove the big lines around the path lines so i can edit them if need be.

Re: DXF issues
Yes it is. But when I open all the files I get from here they open up with those lines around them. I'm really trying to figure out so I can use all the files I want.

I don't usually do what you are doing and haven't in a long while. If memory serves me correctly all you need to do is click the image, then click on the next button below the arrow select and you should see the nodes select the first corner node, hold the shift key down and select the other 3 corners and the hit the delete key on your keyboard and it should now leave you with just the image.

Re: DXF issues
I don't understand you say there are lines or a box around the drawing when you import it in to sheetcam.
here is the same file I just moved it around to show there are not lines around it.
Maybe the setup for sheetcam is wrong and it is putting the line is when you open it up.

Re: DXF issues
The problem is the thick marron lines around the drawing in inkscape. It makes near impossible to edit the drawing to get an accurate look at the drawing. I want to figure out a way to remove the thick lines. Any file I load in inks cape from here has the thick lines.
Thanks for every ones help so far.

Re: DXF issues
Got it figured out. My line thickness when I imported it in was to set to high making thick lines. Changes the line thickness and it fixed it. Easy fix once i figured it out.
Thanks for all the help.

We all have problems with software because there is no standard for how things are named or how they function.
There for this is not a true statement (Maybe I am just an idiot.)
Looking at what is available for us to use and how we can manipulate images its easy to be confused.
Having a site like this with those willing to help is just great.
have fun
