getting beveled cut on stainless

Post by metaleffects »

Hi everyone, I am new to the site and new to plasma cutting in general. I am currently cutting 14 gauge stainless on a plasma cam table with a hypertherm 65. My cut results our not consist from one cut to the next and I am having trouble with the cut beveling.
I am cutting at 35amps and 65ipm at .o75 height. I have tried cutting lower an get similar results.
any help?
thanks

For best cut quality on 14 gauge stainless with a Powermax65 you should be using the Fine Cut consumables at the mechanized cut chart specs from your Powermax65 operators manual.

Fine cut consumables....use the 220448 shield.

45 amps
200 inches per minute
.02" cut height.

You will get a very nice cut!

You are running too slow, too low on amperage, and far to high, all reasons for a bad bevel! Follow the cut charts in the operators manual. The lowest powered process always provides the best cut quality in terms of squareness....the cut quality specs have been developed by Hypertherm.
