Hi all, I for the first time in 3 years cut something different than 1.6mm plate or 0.5mm copper.
I was watching a video on making a meat cleaver and thought yeah. I have an old saw blade so I guessed a few settings and this is what happened!
I remember Jim Colt saying the other day that it is harder to control the bevel on thin stuff and easier on thick stuff. I sometimes have bevel on my 1.6mm but this 4.00 mm ex sawblade from a sawmill cut brilliant.
Only problem was I couldnt drill out the dam holes they are so hard now. tried cobalt and titanium bits but useless, any one got a plan?
Settings
50IPM
93 Volts
.4 sec pierce delay
30 amps (old consumables)
Cheers to Hypertherm!

That does look good, do you usually use the 30a parts on the 1.6mm plate? just wondering if you see much difference from the 45a consumables on that thickness with the taper?
I keep thinking of trying them myself.
Thanks for posting.

Those holes are not in a location that needs the steel to be hardened to much degree. I would run a flame over them and soften it up and then drill it with cobalt.

Yeah I have been using the 30 amp for the last 3 years or so as my table has a top speed of 150ipm. It also makes a smaller kerf than the 45 amp as well.
