I just tested the Duramax MRT torch on my PM1250 and I am impressed! After a few test cuts for operation I cut a 1/2" MS disk. The dross actually flaked off with my finger. Not even my fingernail, just rubbed it and it fell off. Square edge and excellent cut quality. Thank you Hypertherm!
It was only a test because I bought a 25' lead when I needed a 35' lead so the old T80M is back in production until I can get a 50' model from the LWS. Ordered it today and sold the 25' to recoup some of the expense.
I took a picture buy just realized it's out of focus. Try again later.

The Duramax will pay for itself with better cut quality and longer consumable life. It is an excellent upgrade for the older Hypertherm Powermax600, 800, 900, 1000, 1250 and 1650 models, and is the same basic torch that is used on the newer Powermax65, 85 and 105 systems.

I am getting very similar results with my Powermax45. Parts are virtually dross free with very minimal bevel.

This is my setup as well and I love it! Agreed on the length though, wish I had gone with a longer lead, but that's just a convenience. Happy cutting!

Re: Powermax 1250 Duramax Torch Upgrade - Wow!
I am looking at doing the upgrade to my Pmax 1000. You mention wishing you had gone with the longer lead, do you know if the longer lead requires a higher air pressure to get the same air pressure at the tip? Just worried about pressure drop across the added length. Anything else to consider with pros and cons of the 25' to 50 length?

Yes, the longer lead requires a higher air pressure setting, this is covered in the manual that comes with the torch. The newer systems, Powermax65, 85, 105 and 125 automatically compensate and adjust air pressure for different lead lengths.

I did increase the PSI to the recommended level but cannot find that reference now. Hmmmm. It's set at the high end though, just the 80 PSI is lit up on my 1250. There is a noticeable ramp up on the air exiting the nozzle. You can hear the air pressure go up rather quickly. I've also noticed that pierce times seem to be quicker with less flying dross.
The table is listed in my signature block.

Re: Powermax 1250 Duramax Torch Upgrade - Wow!
I just cut up 3 4x8' sheets of .500 mild steel and continue to be impressed by the Duramax torch. First to last cuts were identical. Almost zero bevel, inside and out. This stack of 6.5" holes match top to bottom with no noticable bevel between pieces. No consumable changes. The electrode has a bit of wear but the nozzle is still perfect. I did set pierce height to 200% to reduce blowback contamination.
