THC causing intermittent lag lines - CandCNC DTHCII

Post by ZTFab »

I recently bought an Arclight Dynamics 9600 (4x8) table running a Hypertherm 65.

My tables uses CandCNC electronics and has their DTHCII system. I'm having a problem understanding how this whole system works. My MACH3 control screen shows buttons for both the DTHC and THC and the system says they both have to be on for "full automation".

I am getting some cut quality issues in the form of exaggerated lag lines (saw tooth) when I have both the DTHC and the THC buttons on. The lines show up on every part but intermittently...half of the part looks great the other have doesn't.

If I turn the THC button off, the problem goes away. I believe I am doing everything correctly and have gone over everything with Adam at Arclight but we can't figure out a solution.

Anybody have any tips or suggestions on what to try or change?

Thanks in advance

If I had a CandCNC DTHCII Torch Height Controller I would contact the ever so helpful man that designed it.

You will find very few people as helpful and as knowledgeable as Tom is.

Go here, register & post your questions.

Why settle for 2nd hand info from the table builder.

My guess is - TURN OFF THE "THC" and leave on the selection to the module you actually have.

Agreed. Tom can help you out at CandCNC. Likely it is a setting in the z axis motion...maybe causing a vibration or oscilation that shows in the cut edge.
