CorelDraw x3 and x6 will import and allow editing of .dxf and .svg files. It's all I use for drawing and modifying files for cutting. Very easy to use and a fantastic user group. Plenty of videos on YouTube if you need them. Adobe Illustrator is what my artists typically use. They just send me a .pdf which I import into CD x6. All of my output is export to .dxf for import into TurboNest. CD is less than $100 on Ebay.

I wouldn't get the student version. I believe all of your printed output will have a "Student" label on the border. Makes for a really bad presentation to clients.

I think you will also find student versions are not upgradable.

Here is the best deal I have found on X6, it is the full version but you have to qualify as student to purchase.

sign torch

will that education version work?

mostly what I want to be able to do is add or cut a few lines, and make names and welcome. to add to youre graphics

as soon as I learn how to do fonts I will be ready to buy yours and jasons artwork.

do you think corel draw would be easier to learn then inkscape?

It is a disk.

Gary, you are right, I looked on the case and it says "education edition". I don't know what is different about it. It will import and export dfx files and it does not mark "student" on anything.

several amazon reviewers are not too happy with home and student

I keep hearing that it does not have vba or macros, which would preclude being able to use addons like dxftool

it lacks some customization features, print preview and preflight, may have a banner across the top that says not for commercial use, may be 32 bit only, etc....

Gary, I am posting a couple of screen shots that may answer a couple of questions. I am not trying to sell anyone on this version, but if there is a feature that anyone wants to know if it includes I will look for them and try to help. I read some of the reviews and some of the info is not correct, for example one reviewer said the toolbar icons could not be enlarged, I checked and they can.
