couple problems
not sure what this would fall under. I am using sheetcam, mach3 on an old TM1 table. using the ohmic sensor only. (Z axis limit switch still not working) My height is terrible. I'm set at .150 pierce and .06 cut. it's more like .06 pierce and .031 or less cut. holes are worse. I have anti dive enabled. I had to slow the speed down to 80% otherwise it would quit penetrating the material (.250")
In the -x direction Only. the z axis will jump up and down very rapidly, not a lot of movement but you can watch the coupler on the motor shaft. it almost looks like it's vibrating. only in the negative x direction though
This was all with new consumables
thanks for any help

Re: couple problems
2 things
1. You need to set your switch offset in sheetcam. This is the distance from Z touching to the home light actually coming on.
2. Your THC rate is too high (if your using CandCNC electronics) You need to drop it from 30 (stock) to less than 20.

Re: couple problems
Help/Setup wizard and follow the prompts until you can edit your post. Edit the switch offset number and then dont forget to save your edit. Then exit and it will remember for every program you use that post for from then on. If you are using the torchmate Z axis and linear rail for the gantry you will be fighting it forever. They used a brass nut for the Z axis and gravity for the backlash comp and they used brass bushings for the linear rods on the Z axis. Its a combo that doesnt last very long. The gantry uses a german made needle bearing slide combo that wears out fast with plasma dust. It is superior to cold rolled steel and bearings but still isnt ideal for the application. Check to see if the cassette has play in it. If it does you can get a new one from Mcmaster.com
