hypertherm 45

Post by james.davis »

Jim,
Recently I bought a machine torch and a hypertherm 45(they are not connected to each other I bought them used).I want to set them up on my DHC2 .How do I wire them to it and each other? And how do I connect the sensing wire to the torch tip.Currently I have a 600 hypertherm set up to my dhc2 .Do you have a drawing to show how to make the connections?
I also didn't get a manual for either one. Can I buy them from Hypertherm or is there some where to down load them? The hypertherm 45 has a hand held torch connected to it now.
Thanks for your help,
Jim

If you have the machine torch plugged into the Powermax45 then the start wires from your PlasmaCam cable will connect to pins 3 and 4 on the rear panel interface connector. You can buy a cable from that will plug into that connector...and splice the two trigger connections to the PlasmaCam cable. I keep a few of the mating plugs in stock as well and can attach a short pigtail connector that can splice to the plasmaCam cable that I can ship to you for $20....if you want to use that method. Pins 3 and 4 will ontly start the machine torch...they will not allow the hand torch to fire.

The Raw arc voltage connections will need to be connected inside the Powermax45 on the machine power board to terminals J19 and J21. The PlasmaCam Red voltage wire connects to J19, the Black voltage wire connects to J21. These must not be reversed as they are polarity dependent.

If you contact me directly at jim.colt@hypertherm.com I can send you a .pd file that suggests wire routing and cover removal/installation for connecting to the raw voltage signal.

You can download a manual in .pdf form on the www.hypertherm.com site. Go to products, choose hand held plasma, then choose powermax 45, click on the downloads tab, choose manual. If you hav any trouble downloading...let me know.

Best regards, Jim Colt
