cutting strips of QT100

Post by cutterguy »

I have a request to cut several 10ft long x 3 inches strips of QT100 steel. How much distortion will there be on the 10ft way. I have a water table under the steel so the water will help to cool the steel. Should I cut this as slow and with the least amperage as possible?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with QT100 and you don't mention how thick the steel is but usually faster is cooler. One thing you might try is cutting one strip from one side of the sheet then move to the other side and alternate back and forth to help keep the heat down on your sheet.
