Ohmic Sensor Powermax 30 PCAM

Post by RobertJohnson »

Went to Lowes today, found this copper reducing adaptor. Think it can be used as an ohmic sensor. Gonna try it out. 4.34 with tax at Lowes. Not a bad fit, but I might throw a set screw or two in there to be sure it won't slide off in use. Let me know what you all think about this idea.

MD, currently I'm set up almost exactly as you are, hair wanted to try something different. I'm wondering if I need 360* contact, so I found this reducer, that is practically done, just need a couple tweeks then it'll be a solid piece that wraps my cutting tip. We'll see. I hope it works.

Should work just fine. We have successfully used a similar sensor sleeve, made from a piece of straight 7/8" OD copper tube:

This thing works great! So simple. I just soldered a wire to it, folded some wire over the lip so it would fit tighter around cutting tip. Crimped a spade tip to the other end, plugged into Plasma Cam, works fine. Now I just need to figure some settings with my DHC2 controls, I think I can control warpage in the settings, maybe pause for 5 or so seconds before beginning next cut. Should have bought the upgrade LOL

Leave some room for top-of-the-piece sparks to blow away...

Here's the thingy I use. Still need to fancy up the wire connector.
