Thankful newbie here! :)

Post by Complete_Loser »

Hello all, Sorry, not sure where to post this.

Im glad i found this place. I have a plasmacam dhc2. I love it.
And this community looks like a perfect fit for me. I just bought all 3 plasmaspider nature scenes! Thank you! They are amazing.

I will be contributing my work as much as i can. But im just beginning.
In order to contribute right now, (so i dont feel so guilty) my area of expertise is Paint and finishing.
I have worked for many years as a paint formulator/troubleshooter, so if anyone has any questions or problems in those areas (your paints acting crazy, or failing), i would be more than happy to help.
I have been custom painting (automotive) for several years now.
I powder coat at my day job.
I have done electroplating aswell.
So questions pertaining to these things, i would be more than happy give help where i can.

I also used to stock and sell custom painting supplies (pearls, flakes, candies, etc). I would be more than happy to contribute stuff i have left.

Thanks again. Hope to cut out some of these nature scenes soon! :)

Welcome to the board Complete_Loser  and thank you for purchasing the Nature Scenes to help support the site. For more great art you can visit our sponsor http://www.customdxffiles.com as he was generous enough to donate those collections.

I hope to see you around often on the site and may take you up on your offer of powdercoating advice since I currently suck.

Kind Regards

Its about 8ft tall, 8ft wide and 20ft deep. Gas fired with infrared backup.
We dont use the infrared very often because of cost. Only on very thick items.

Actually, most smaller shops use batch oven because the cost of a conveyor oven is quite high. So the volume of parts you would have to be coating would also be very high to support such an oven. I have always used a batch oven. Though there have been times that i wished I had a conveyor oven, mainly on production type runs. Coat parts on one end take them off the rack finished on the other end.... More efficient and better work flow, on high volume runs.

What types of parts do you guys usually coat?

I like to do the automotive and and powersports stuff. But basically take anything that comes through the door, that I can fit in the oven.

Your exactly right Jim.
I just hate the job. lol
If you seen the setup, you would laugh, then cry. Some not so intelligent people designed the layout, and have changed it about 7 times since (within 2 years).... and are still changing it today.

We REALLY need a conveyor type system. And they keep trying to pound blood from a turnip. Its quite humorous sometimes.

We are a fork truck manufacturer. One of the top in the industry. I think we are 2nd or 3rd ranked in electric, and soon to be #1 in propane/diesel.

So we coat fork truck chassis', guards, and everything in between.

I used to have a powdercoat setup here at home. Sold it to a buddy at work, and he quit and started doing powder at home full time. lol

I took a look at your work. Its outstanding! I dont recall where your located. But i got all kinds of stuff i would love coated. 2 tuned port setups and a 6-71 supercharger and an 6v71 supercharger. But realistically, i will probably just sell that stuff on ebay to get it out of the shop. Im so sick of working on cars. :(

Thanks, I am located in kawkawlin, Michigan. Where are you located? I get items shipped to me all the time!!! From all over the world!!

ah, yes, It sounds as if you guys are doing enough volume to justify a conveyor oven.
