connecting powermax 65 to plasmacam
Howdy, I am brand new to all of this. I just picked up a used plasmacam dhc and I just came home from buying a new powermax 65 with a hand torch. I am looking for info on how to hook up the plasmcam table to the 65. I figured this is a pretty common setup on here so I would ask if someone could give me a simple explanation on hooking up the torch start /stop wires. I think i cut into the purple wire but Iam not sure about the other two wire hookups. What lugs do I connect them to? thanks for any help or pointing me in the right direction, and wow what a great site.

I believe Jim Colt sells a cable that will connect the 65 to PlasmaCam. He is a Hypertherm rep & is on this site.

Yea I just found that post, I was wondering how to do it without that cord, basically I tapped into the purple wire just inside the unit for the two really small wires form the plasmacam. Iam just not sure about the other two bigger wires. I have the plasmacam instuction dvd but I just wanted to be sure before I fried something. Just wondering were everybody else conneced there wires on the 65/85 units. Thanks

You will have to follow PlasmaCams DVD....I suggest calling them and getting the newest DVD as the Powermax 65 has only been in production for a little over a year...and your DHC is older than that. There are two wires for the trigger switch and two wires for the raw arc voltage connection.

I could easily help you if your plasma was equipped with a machine torch and the CPC interface connector....it is essentially "plug and play" in that case. With the hand torch you need to cut and splice wires....and that affects the safety trigger circuitry....so as a Hypertherm employee I cannot help...

According to pcam disc,
red and black power wires go to ,
black is J-26 on circuit board where work lead goes, the red wire goes to the left of that on the same lug as another red wire, looks like J-25 but hard to see in video.
Smaller black and white go to the purple trigger wire.
But best to call pcam.
