Torch not finishing cuts

Post by DARRYL21270 »

I have a tracker table with a Miller Spectrum 1000. I'm having a problem lately with the torch not finishing a cut and having to go back afterwards and finish cutting with my grinder. The pierce delay is set at .500 per Trackers recommendations for 14 gauge steel sheet. This is starting to become annoying. Any suggestions? even when I have a new tip and electrode in the torch it does the same thing. The torch isn't firing properly.

Is it shutting off (skipping) or continuing to fire and not making it through the plate?

I have a Hypertherm and speed (too fast) and amps (too low) or a bad ground is usually what causes my to skip. I always put the ground directly on the part. I've read here about air problems too but I have a pretty decent air system and never seem to have a problem with that.

Chances are that it is finishing the cut just fine and that the problem lies at the start of the cut. Trackers pierce delay time is measured in milliseconds and you indicate you have the pierce delay time set at .500ms, eliminate the decimal point and go with a 500ms delay and add a lead in to the part being cut. Please let me know if this does not help.

I will try that, but here is a pic I just took and you can see where it's not cutting. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I got in touch with Justin over at Tracker and he walked me through the whole setup process, so hopefully no more problems. They have the best support out there and explain things in a very easy to understand way. No sense having a table with crappy support.

Thanks Man
