Need Help .geo file conversion to dxf

Post by Kadams135 »

I'm needing to convert a geo file to dxf if possible. Before we got our plasma cutter we had a shop down the road cut our swing arms for our pull posts, they have a laser and I was hoping to just use the file they had already created. I'm having trouble finding a way to convert it.

What is a "geo" file? I have not heard of that format. Can you post your file here and I will have a look.

If you upload your file to google drive and send me the link, I will be able to download it and check it out.

Hey David, was curious myself and found this out about a geo file. Looks like it is Trumpf laser systems

"A GEO file may also be a 3D CAD file saved in the GEO format. It stores a sheet metal design and is used by TruTops software. GEO files include contour information, bend data, and information about the material and thickness."

I received you PM with your google drive link. You need to make it public so that I can see it. Here is how to do that.

Probably your best bet would be to go to the shop that originally cut your file and have them convert it to dxf for you.

Or take some measurements of the one you have and post a drawing here and someone will create a dxf file for you.

I agree with David, you will likely not find any program to convert that for you since it was generated in propitiatory software, you will need to go back to that to get it exported ad dxf or re-draw it. How difficult of a design is it to re-draw?

Thanks for looking into it guys I’ll get in touch with the other shop and see if I can get them to. They were originally supposed to but for some reason they didn’t. Thanks again.
