The Inkscape Path Simplify tool has a Simplification Threshold setting for adjusting the level of node reduction and smoothing. The standard setting is 0.002, which can cause distortion of the drawing paths to an unacceptable level. Adjusting the level to a smaller numerical value can result in smoother drawing paths with less unwanted distortion with only slightly more total nodes.
Here is an example of dxf file that was imported to Inkscape with a very high node count showing the result of using the Path, Simplify tool with the Simplification Threshold set to 0.0001.

Re: Inkscape - Path Simplify settings
Thanks for some great info . I quit using simplify for that reason and just clean up nodes by hand ,very very slow . I will try to adjust did not know that you can .
