Cut marks change depending on x/y axis travel

Post by Rocketdc »

Can't figure out why the cut marks on the edge of the steel are finer when machine is cutting on Y axis and more defined when torch is traveling on X axis. Every piece is like this, cutting on an ldr 5x10 with steppers. Is there an adjustment I need to make? Any thoughts on what to check?

This is due to the speed setting for the axis, if you travel to fast the arc will have a curve. This is different to the cutting speed in the G-code.

This machine uses Linux commandCNC and I looked through the machine configurations and the settings are the same for each axis. Not sure why anything changed since I haven't touched any of the machine settings and never had this problem before. Is there another location of settings I should check?

If this just started happening and was fine before you may want to go over your linear rails, bearing, etc and be sure they are super clean and running smooth.
