3M VHB .125 Thick

Post by cutting$burning »

Could not find a forum for adhesives so I posted here in the general forum. Looking for a source for some 3M VHB 5952 or similar in 1/8" THICK x 1" and 1/2" wide. I have purchased it before but cannot find any unless it's 9 rolls of 180 yards. Looking for 15 feet of each. Of course I needed it yesterday. Whenever I google or search all I get is a million results of 1/8" WIDE not THICK.

Thanks, DeLaun

Thanks Tom, Yes they have it but only in 1/16" thick, trying to make the letters stand off like this. I'm looking for 1/8" thick.

I've have had trouble with Gorilla Glue products in the past. Had issues with their epoxy glue and their super glue.

I've gave this some serious thought. The sign has 8" tall letters cut from 10 gauge and is mounted directly above the front entrance. If a letter fell off the sign at the wrong moment?

So, you're concerned that the tape might not adhere to itself, but not concerned about it adhering to other materials? I think I'd find a mechanical solution if it's mounted above a walkway.

I have a CD stud welder so would use threaded studs to stand it off that far but I have certainly used 2 layers of tape and it's worked very well. Just use the correct amount and prep properly.

Thanks Robert for sharing your experiences with using 2 layers. Just knowing someone has done this with good results makes me fell a lot better about going this route.

Good luck

You could always use 1/8 thick flat washers behind the letters with a strong epoxy holding it all together.
