You would do better to have a ceramic tile laser etched with the image.

Maybe something like this? What size do you plan to cut it? What I have shown below is just an example to show you what it might look like. I plan on doing further editing/clean-up in preparation for plasma cutting if you decide this is something you can use.

YES , That looks terrific !! I plan on adding it to the top part of the sign, where there is a scene below, so thinking of making it around 18-20" or so.. I have an older CNC machine & if I make it too small all the cut lines will bleed through as you well know.. I know how to cut the DXF file, but surely do not know much about any of the rest of it or do I have the software to do so.. I soooo much appreciate your time !! Thank you

VERY nicely done, David!

If it is for a cemetery, it should be made out of stainless.

Impressive work, David. Did you manually trace all that detail?

Thanks guys! No - I did not manually trace all that detail - although in retrospect that might have been the quicker approach. I used Vector Q to do the auto trace, Design Edge for clean-up, and Inkscape for the final editing and node reduction.

Thanks for the details. For those of us who don't have Design Edge, is there a way to use Inkscape to search for open paths and close them automatically?

I also have Aspire, but haven't really gotten along that well with its vector editing features...

The only method I know of for finding open paths in Inkscape is to do it manually by looking at the outline (Stroke) of the individual objects. Aspire will find open paths automatically. Either Aspire or Inkscape could be used for the editing of the svg file from VectorQ. Or perhaps a combination of the two.

Here is the svg from VectorQ in case you want to open it with Aspire, Inkscape, or CorelDraw to see what it actually looks like and maybe practice your editing a bit.

Thanks Doug! These different programs are lots of fun to play around with, and always learning something new in the process.

Gotta love Vector Q. On an iPad PRO with an Apple pencil ... a deadly combination for FAST editing of files.

I have the Apple pencil on the large iPad Pro, but for my purposes I prefer to do the editing on my pc. I find that Inkscape works just as well for me as VectorQ (if not better) once the initial auto trace is accomplished. Also editing with a full size monitor makes it easier for me to see.

VectorQ is free, so for those who already have in iPhone or iPad - it's a quick method to vectorize (auto trace) an image in preparation for subsequent editing. The app is free, but there is a one-time charge of around $4 to enable the ability to email the files in the 5 formats offered.

One thing I love about Vector Q is that you can draw several open paths one over the other, and then select all of them and group them. The result is a single CLEAN closed path of all of them. That alone makes the program awesome.
