Inside corner radius path effects
So I am trying to get the same inside radius as the outside in my drawing. I am using path effects. I even added 2 nodes, in blue that are selected. I am missing a step because I get no change in that 90 degree corner.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
have you tried to use copy and paste, separate the corner you want and copy it and move it to the other location. I had to work with the node tool to break it apart then make new lines with the add node. When you use the copy you keep the same radius.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
I made the legs longer. About 8" each leg. I have never done that. I will give it a shot.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
Here is one way to do it using the Path Effects tool. Lots of steps involved, but it does give a result with matching radii for both bends. Make sure your Bounding Box snaps are enabled.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
I thought it might be quicker to do it from scratch by drawing a square and 2 circles, but there are still many steps to do.

By comparison, I drew it in Design Edge - which is how I would normally do something like this. I expect that CorelDraw and Fusion 360, as well as some of the better free Cad programs could have the same results for those familiar with those programs.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
Thanks David. This is a lot of moves to accomplish this. I was thinking when you move the circle, so it snaps "here" in your drawing(second to last post). Then I would think you would do a Path Difference instead of playing with the nodes. I am not familiar with deleting line segments. I have to search up some vids. I am very tempted to download Qcad as others have suggested for drawing up parts.
Thanks.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
T.J. - that would be a faster way to do it. Great idea!! I'm no expert at Inkscape. Using your idea, we can do it in fewer steps. I wouldn't give up on Inkscape just yet.TJS wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 7:02 am Thanks David. This is a lot of moves to accomplish this. Tom - these questions are a great learning opportunity for many of us. And it's fun to learn by attempting to answer other folks questions. But thanks, I'm glad you liked my "tutorial".

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
This is great. Here is how I do it but I am stuck at the end for the inside corner radius.
Double click to radius the corner. Hold control and drag.
Then I set the specific radius to 1.25" as the total height of the box is 2.5" so I want an even radius.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
Now I need to remove one side of the radius as I am going to weld this part to a flat piece.
So I do object to path the node editing tool. I select the one node on the tip of the radius and delete it. Then the two handles show up. Shift click each one and then it makes the line horizontal now.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
So notice the part is not the size I originally set forth because I removed the radius on the left side. So now select all the nodes on the right side radius and click and hold control on the bottom node and drag the mouse to increase the length only without altering the radius. What I do not like about inkscape here is that you cannot see the side of the part when you are doing this action.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
Now I duplicate the part and flip it vertical. Then make sure snapping is on and drag it over the horizontal part till it snaps over the existing radius.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
Ok so the top part of this assembly needs to be coped as it will be welded to a 2.375" round OD pipe. So I drew a circle and then snapped it to mid point and now do a path difference.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
Ok so this is where I am stuck to get the inside corner radius. I drew a 2.5" circle to match the radius of the outside corner. I am not savy enough to get this to work.

TJ - I will take a look at this later this evening to see what I can come up with.

Yes - that is what TJ is attempting to use. It works great on outside fillets, but I'm not sure it will work for inside fillets. I will check this out later this evening at get back to you.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
TJ - here is a quicker method to accomplish the same thing I think you are after creating your "L" shape with the corner fillets.
Also - I have discovered that I have trouble trying to enter a value for the radius and do it automatically. It doesn't always perform the way I would expect, and the units for the radius value seem to be in metric regardless of the units, inch selection I have made. As I said before, I do not normally use Inscape for these sorts of tasks so I'm no expert, but it is fun to try new things with the program and hopefully this "tutorial" will help T.J. and some of the other members out in the future.

Re: Inside corner radius path effects
Can't you break the path at the small sides and then they'll both be outside fillets. Then join them back together. I'm not an inkscape expert, so maybe this isn't possible.
