Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
Cnc4pc has an attractively priced THC at about $170
It has only been on their sight since august 2020
Anybody have any experience with it?

Check things first it looks like you need a 2 parts electronics package.

I believe the second part is a separate non contact or ohmic type sensor.
I have a floating torch with switch to set initial z height so I don’t think I’ll need that.
I have ordered one so we will see if I can get it running.

Re: Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
You should look at getting the Ohmic sensor if cutting thin metal, and use the floating head switch as a safety. IMHO

Ok you talked me into it, I ordered the ohmic sensor as well.

Please report back on your experiences with this combination as there are others looking for a fair priced THC for their DIY project.

Re: Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
So, I have the THC thats linked above, and its accurate that the touch sensor is a separate module.
So far, I think that any problems I have with either are completely user induced, as I am fairly new to the Plasma CNC ( and I still haven't been able to get my Avic THC up and running thats why I ordered this).
I am running an Axbb-e ethernet controller and was running out of inputs on the main board due to the 3 axis limit/home switches, a floating Z axis and e-stop. so I ordered a C10 board from CNC4PC to give me some added inputs, I have wired the THC and touch sensor per their wiring diagrams, and think I have everything like its supposed to be.
and it appears to work as advertised, now I am going to have to see how my g-code needs to be modified to work with both of these new additions.

Thanks for the feedback, better to hear from a user than a seller.
I have a buddy that is looking for a THC, since the Price avhc-10 and the Mini THC has dried up, and not good news about the ones from China. I know the linux software packages are good priced but changing to a new software can be an added concern.

Any suggestions on what parameters to tweak to keep from pulling up on longer cuts?

Re: Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
Not sure about your question but once the THC is on what turns if off is the Arc OK signal stopping.
Here is a video on setting up a chart for your table for different metal thickness.

I used a technique similar to that to get the voltage and it worked great on n shorter cuts but as you get to longer cuts it pulls up.
Any ideas the most common problems have should look at

Re: Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
By pulling up do you mean the torch actually moves up that you can see or do you mean the Z DRO moves up. the Z DRO will show movement as the torch follows the metal surface with the cutting distance staying the same. The voltage display should stay fairly stable with some Fluctuations.

Re: Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
One thing that I really liked on the Avic is the ability to send test signals to verify your wiring is set up and configured correctly.
It took a little longer to get the cnc4pc THC set up, but other than the torch lifting in longer cuts, it looks like it’s going to work great.
I am thinking, that there is something that I am doing wrong in the uccnc configuration that’s causing this, it looks like it’s happening right before a sharp corner, so it may have something to do with the anti dive, but I’m not sure.

Re: Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
read + reread the manual
http://www.cncdrive.com/UCCNC/UCCNC_usersmanual.pdf
m209 needs to be enabled and a threshold set.
normally the torch dives at the corners or when the torch slows down..... as the kerf gets wider and the voltage rises.... and the thc compensates by lowering down to the workpiece.
check your up and down signals are working the right way or wired the right way around or set in uccnc the right way around

Re: Anyone using the THC from cnc4pc?
I've just got the THC-1 from CNC4PC installed today and am looking some advice for a suitable post processor. Arturo says he's working on a new post but really need to get up and running.
Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!
