I opened your dxf with Inkscape to have a look. Here is what I found. Let me know if you have specific questions about editing your file with Inkscape and I will show you a step-by-step sequence of editing it.

Thank you so much for helping me. He said it was drawn in 3D so maybe this is what happened.

Ok I wanted to open the fixed file to compare but I am getting this error.

I would like to fix this in inkscape if I can. I ungroup but I am still not able to select the lines to delete them. If you could help me with that process it would be awesome.

First of all, I am using Inkscape Version 1.2.1
Inkscape version 1.2.1.jpg
I have my Document Properties set set to inches.

Great info David. In your red text I am trying to see what the node looks like when not joined and when it is joined. What is the difference. It is hard to tell by the screen shot.
