I would like to cut out this bulldog head but have trouble when converting it to dxf and it being able to be cut out correctly

The image has five colors. You are cutting it out of ONE sheet of metal, unless you are going to layer the metal. Before someone draws a file for you, you should explain exactly what you intend the final product to be. If you want a black outline back plate, with a red collar, dark gray collar spikes, a light gray main face layer, and white teeth and eyes, those are separate pieces that must be attached to the black background outline using VHB tape or another adhesive after they are painted.

If you want to cut this out of one single sheet of material, then some compromises must be made, to deal with the color changes and the "islands" that are contained in the drawing.

You would end up with two layers, the black background, and the four lighter colored pieces attached to the front surface. A total of 16 pieces are needed to do this correctly.

This is one version. I separated the pieces to be cut individually, and then stacked and painted as needed.

WHERE did this image come from?

Hey Joe, an image search shows this is a high school team logo for Carl Junction High School. Decent trace result Joe, is that a DesignEdge auto trace result?

Great trace tip, thanks David. The Inkscape auto trace seems to be a little better than Corels.

You are welcome! I find that the Inkscape auto trace also produces better results than the Design Edge auto trace.
