Inkscape G Code Issue

Post by HCmillertech »

I am trying to get this logo to cut and when I create the G Code it seems to not follow the border of the logo. You will see at the bottom of the G and other areas. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

Thanks

Are you using Inkscape to generate your g-code? If yes, then post your dxf or svg file and I will walk you thru it. Also here is a thread from a while back that may be of some help to you.

Here is your file with all the overlapping nodes eliminated. You could try following the steps outlined here

viewtopic.php?f=77&t=34563

to see if you have better results with your g-code.

If you wish post your g-code results file we can check it out to see how it looks under simulation.

What program do you use to run your simulations (if any)? Here is your file in g-code format. This is the download link.

Here are a few screen shots of the g-code simulation. The lower portion of the letter "G" appears to cut fine and follows the drawing path.

Perhaps you can post some step-by-step screen shots of your Inkscape g-code creation so we can see exactly what you are doing. Also post your actual g-code so we can have a look. Since this forum does not appear to allow attaching text files, you may need to upload your g-code file to your Google drive and provide the download link so we can have access to your file.

Here is your file with cut path generated with Inkscape.

Here is the download link to the g-code file shown in the above screen shots.

Everything appears good to me. If you post screen shots of your Inkscape g-code creation process here, then we can take a look to see if anything looks out of place in your "recipe".

This is what mine looks like when I add the black fill. All cut paths appear to follow the black filled letters.

I do not use a simulator but I think I need to find one and use it to help me out. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

I was using Chilipeppr TinyG for this example. Here is the link.

This is not something I regularly use, as I have a Plasmacam table and use Design Edge. But I have used the Chilipeppr TinyG simulator in the past when helping one of the woodworking guys with his project. It's very easy to use. Just load your g-code and run the simulator. Let me know if you need a "step by step" tutorial and I will provide it here.

You are quite welcome Plasmanewbie! These are fun to use, and you never know when the need for a simulator will arise.
