Re: Neat way to do multi layers
I’m still a little confused… I see that tabs are bent and used for spacing, but are the tabs welded to the back layers?
I think I'm the oldest 10 year old boy on the forum...

Scratch, I think the tabs were just twisted to lock the pieces together

I use these type of fasteners for thin sheet metal, installed like Pop Rivets, use machine screws to attach layers.

Tom I use rivnuts for all my panel work on the rockcrawlers... while were sharing rivnuts... check this tool out.. its easier for my gimpy hand than the squeeze style.
Ive used them on a few signs, but they have to be designed to look good with button head bolts.

Thats is slick, thanks for dangling a neat tool in front of a tool junkie
the video show both nutsert setter and a pop rivet tool using the same handle is your that way or are there 2 separate tools??
Here is a DIY manual nutsert tool I made many years ago.

Re: Neat way to do multi layers
Nice tool! My homemade is a bolt and 2 washers... Didn't quite like it.
My Astro is only nutsert.. but different mandrels are available so might do rivets.
One reason I like this one is I can use a 90° attachment for my 1/4"impact or drill for underwood/ under dash work

Re: Neat way to do multi layers
HEY! That is smart! Create a tab that bends over, and lands on the back surface. Then the tab is narrower, and then a bit wider, and slips through a slot too wide for the upper part to slip through. Now twist the small tabs that protrude out through the back! I love it!
