Which settings do you need help with? It would be helpful to know what material you are cutting, thickness, etc. in order to advise you with the suggested proper settings. Perhaps provide one of your cut files or drawing files so we can see what you are doing.

The values shown are arbitrary, and not correct for any particular job. Let me know what you are attempting to cut and I can give you an idea what the proper values should be for your job.

Can I assume you are using a Hypertherm 45xp, 65, or 85? If so do you have access to the Hypertherm FineCut consumables for your torch?

Your first file "mobil_pegasus=.dxf is a clean file ready to cut. Its current size is around 6" x 8" and most of the detail cuts are only around 0.040" (1 mm) wide. You might consider scaling it up in size by a factor of 2 or 3 to achieve cleaner cuts for the interior details. Your second and third files have lots of problems - crossovers, open paths, etc. and would require some editing to produce clean cut ready files.

Assuming you are using a Hypertherm Plasma Cutter with Duramax torch with Fine Cut consumables, the Hypertherm cut chart for 14 ga. (2mm) mild steel FineCut low speed lists the following values:
Current Setting - 45 Amps
Cut Height - 0.060"
Pierce Height - 0.150"
Cut Speed - 150 ipm
Kerf Width - 0.043"
Pierce Delay Time - 0.04 sec.

The Design Edge settings pages would look similar to those shown below. The values for Z shift and Arc voltage shift would be automatically set by checking the boxes for "Autozero Z shift on next cut" and "Autozero arc voltage shift on next cut". For 3.11 you will need to enter the appropriate values in the corresponding settings pages for your system. You could check the box for "Wait for signal before moving" to make sure that the torch doesn't start moving before it pierces the part.

I scaled the pegasus by a factor of 3. Using a pierce lead in length of 0.1", you can see that this places the pierce points about equidistant from the sides of the detail cuts.

Yes - it is a good clean file ready to cut. What size did you cut it? What plasma cutter are you using?

Full half sheet of steel
Plasmacam DCH2

When we first started after a few tries all good but now we have this communication error and other issues.

I am sure the problem is the card but it's a lot to spend if wrong $195 us and the cable $40 US and I'm sure the new designed software would be great but thats over $1,000 US

Again thanks for all your help

If you have DHC2 then you have Design Edge. Perhaps you have an older machine. Perhaps consult with a local friend with cnc plasma cutting experience who can help you get it dialed in. If you are using a 3V card and Plasmacam requires 5V, then you really need to get the proper parallel card.

Early DHC2 models did not come with Design Edge so he could very well have a DHC2 on 3.11

Yes, my DHC2 came with 3.11 (and that's what's staying on it).
And be sure to not run your nozzle and electrode to death. Having clean, dry air is important, too! Both for quality cutting and consumable life.
Go to the Hypertherm site and look at the recommended settings for your cutter.

I would recommend trying to retrieve your 3.11 files from the hard drive on your computer, perhaps by using another computer. Otherwise it would probably be best to upgrade to Design Edge.
