Powermax 65 Interface Cable Start Arc Volts Question

Post by The-Meerkat »

I’ve got a 5v power supply, a 12v power supply and a 24v power supply....the Powermax 65 manual says 18v for the start signal. Before I go buy a new 18v power supply to juice the start arc trigger, has anyone done this with 12v? It’s to power the signal black wire and green wire between the dry relay and the Powermax.

Also, regardless of power supply volts, can someone tell me which wire color goes to positive (+)?

All the best,

Scott Meer

You don't supply voltage to start the arc. You just need to connect terminals 3 & 4 together and it will fire. That's why it says dry contacts.

No problem. It sounds way too complicated in the instructions.
The transfer is a set of dry contacts inside the plasma that closes when the arc transfers and starts cutting.
And the divider is a voltage with + & -.

DJREISWIG,
Yes, it definitely could be simpler. For my notebook, does this look about right?

Not sure about the bob connection to the relay, but the plasma side looks right.
