One week and I still cant figure it out .PLease take a look

I am trying to attach "The Dashers " text to this svg file
I open svg file , type out THE DASHERS then object to Path and ungroup text
ungroup the Deer SVG file
then I union the two together which works fine except my Deer scenery goes all Black.

Please someone tell me what Im doing wrong
attached is the file and whats happening.

Go to View and change it from Normal to outline.

TJS has a good suggestion there, give that a try it will help to see whats going on because it looks like something else may be going on there also but maybe its just the picture messing with my eyes.

Ok this may not be exactly how you wanted it but should work. I could not get it to attach The Dashers to the bottom (tried different tricks no workie). Now a few things the file you sent the dashers was not a path, and that was below the border of your page size. I always remove the page border, I add a border with the box tool after I have the plaque info done. To remove the blackened fill I use the fill and stroke (remove fill then click on stroke and give it a size, 0.005 for plasma paths). I also [placed bridges in the 3 letters and move the node next to the buck leg. hope this helps.

Ok Ok it bugged me I could not do it, put on the old thinking cap and here is how to do it.
The Dashers needs to be a path then broken apart, and each letter then can be unioned to the deer part. You also need to be using the node tool when trying to union them. Also the inside of the D, A, and R need to be combined as a whole letter before you union to the rest.

Thank you Plasmanewbie and TJS but I had already tried that but didn't help me.I have been racking my brain out lol.

Care to clue us in what you were doing wrong. So when other plasma spider people have a similar issue they can see your solution. Seems as most forms, not just this one,is the solution rarely get posted as for others to see.
