Dynatorch z-axis keeps crashing into table.
Hi, I have a Super B+ that has been nothing but trouble for the better part of a year now. The ohmic sensing has been a constant problem and now it’s just gotten to the point where I can’t cut. If I do the manual height sensing of the plate, it will start the cut. However, once it starts it shoves the torch head down into the plate pretty soon after causing a crash and a stop. If I do the automatic height sensing, I get an error that the encoder has had to many pulses before the ohmic switch turned on even though it is touching the plate. If anyone has any idea as to what might be the cause of this you would be doing me a great favor. Thank you.

Does your unit have a THC.

Yes it does, I just turned it off and it worked but it feels like I’m not finding solutions just workarounds.

OK, acourtjester has helped to determine the THC is a problem since when you turn it off you are able to cut. Lets forget about everything else and hone in on that.
We know that increasing your arc voltage increases cutting height and decreasing arc voltage decreases cutting height and currently your so low its diving into the plate. Your machine worked fine before so do you recall what the arc voltage was set to, and has it changed?
If you don't recall what it was before, what is it now? Try increasing that by a large amount like say 25v and see if keeps the torch from diving into the plate. Did it help? What was the cutting height?
Do all these tests by cutting a simple 24" long straight line. You can cut a pile of these and waste little to no material.

What I have seen with THC is the delay before the THC takes control is to short and the arc is not stable, I use about a 1.5 second delay before I turn on the THC. This is not the same as the pierce delay. Not knowing about your THC I cannot comment as to where you set this delay.

Im a bit late to the party here.
Sounds like a setting in your controls is off.
Have you called Russell at CNC shop?
Do a search for dynatorch and cnc shop should pop up.
From what I understand he bought Dynatorch and is manufacturing the Super B line right now. His background is he's worked for dynatorch for years, first in Kentucky then to Alabama. He knows these machines inside out.

I called Russell just yesterday since he’s the guy I called from my prior issue. We believe it to be something with the ohmic sensor circuit since it won’t even detect the plate automatically anymore. Hopefully it’s resolved.
