Hi
I own a Wright CNC table 5x10 with a Hypertherm 65 I’m new to this forum and was wondering if anybody could help me out. The problem I am having Is when I hit run to start cutting on mach 3 Torch pierces play with no problem and start cuttintorch pierces play with no problem But as soon as it is going to you start moving to its next path plasma arc turns off. By the way i have only owed table for a week

Re: Metal not cutting?
Reading your question it doesn't make much sense but it seem that the machine is doing what it should. Plasma should turn off when to its next cut path, did you want it cutting all the time?

Sorry about that sonbakler I mean when plasma pierces to plate to start cutting as soon as it moves to cut out part arc shuts off and just air is coming out.

Re: Metal not cutting?
Pierce delay too short, wrong cut height, feedrate too fast?

Re: Metal not cutting?
Ok thank you at least that helps Me get going on the right path the tech at Wright is always busy when I’m available so I appreciate it. Now another question I do not have my THC module yet I’m waiting for it to come in but tech at Wright CNC said I can still cut. Now I did notice torch is almost or basically touching the steel plate as it try’s to cut. Is there a way to fix this?

Re: Metal not cutting?
First off the air coming out after troch stops is normal that is the cooling cycle. When cutting the torch will be about 0.060" off the metal. If it is higher it may be shutting off due to losing the arc ok signal but this generally is fairly high, it is a safety for when the torch moves to an open area no metal to cut.
You can run without a THC but the metal needs to be very flat, the THC is setup to follow the metals surface by checking the arc voltage while cutting.

Re: Metal not cutting?
Ok appreciate! Now what could the problem be when Z goes down to find material before it’s pierces and instead of it going back up to cut height, Z motor wants to keep going down and makes motor grind

Re: Metal not cutting?
What kind of height sensing are you using? Floating head with a switch or ohmic sensing.
You should check if the input for the switch or sensor is being seen by your control software. If the computer can't see the switch, it won't know when to stop. Another possibility is that your feedrate is too fast and it's overshooting the switch.
