I started blowing out nozzles on my hypertherm 1650 and figure it is moisture in the line....My operator had not drained the compressor in over a week.....almost a gallon of water came out.....I changed the filter in my air filter(the pcp group filter that was sold on plasmaspider) and drained all of the water and ran the machine, I am not blowing as many nozzles(instead of every 12 inches it is now about every 80 inches, I guess my question is how long does it take to completely get any moisture out of the torch cable and is there a good way to clear the moisture without running the table..... I have been hitting the test button on my pcam and letting the cooldown cycle air, but this has to be monitored, is there a way to set it to blow air for at least 15min or so and come back and shut it off? Unless anyone thinks my problem is elsewhere......

Re: water in system
Turn the amperage knob fully counter clockwise and the air flow will activate. This function is there to set your plasma pressure.......so be sure to set the pressure for cutting in the future with the gas flowing.
There probably is moisture in you airline between the compressor and the plasma system as well. If there is enough humidity to create that much water in your compressor tank in a day....then you may want to consider getting an air dryer....either a refrigerated or a dessicant type dryer.

I have been running this one for about a year and a half on my 1650. Got it used off of Craigslist. The "auto drain" feature is only sorta auto, you have to dump the line pressure for it to activate. MIne is up hi to be out of the dust and when it dumps it is like a waterfall. Once a week seems OK for So. Cal.
Fixed all those pesky problems. Even helps with the bead blaster, keeps the media from clumping.

Thanks Jim I didn't even think of that, I guess I knew it had that feature, but never had to use it.....I do have a dryer, it is the pcp group one that used to be sold here. I think most of the problem is operator error in not draining the compressor every day, all that water couldn't be helping any..... thanks for your imput I guess we will see if it improves, If not you will be hearing from me consumables are expensive(especially at a set per foot)jimcolt wrote:Turn the amperage knob fully counter clockwise and the air flow will activate.
