Hello,
Black Rose Fabrication in Austin, TX. Howdy!
We are new to CNC. Not new to graphics, but new to Gcode.
Using InkScape.
We go through all of the steps to convert to Gcode. We get no insertion points. It totally blows out the dimensions of the object or it doesn't pick up anything.
At this point, desperate to just get a Gcode file. We are behind on a deadline!
Can anyone give us some help please? We bought a GoFabCNC and it has been a crapshow trying to get help.

Re: Gcode help
First off WELCOME and thank you for the introduction!
Sorry to hear about the donkey show with Gofab. There will be better answers to come buuuuut my .02......
I have no experience with Gofab. Does your Gofab have a CAM program with a post processor? Personally, I save picture type stuff from inkscrap to a DXF and import into a CAD program. From that point, I scale to size and save as an R12 ASC II and send it to my CAM and process, nest and run the post processor generating my gcode.
Can you give me some dope on how the Gofab work flow is and the programs you are using?

Re: Gcode help
Hi!
Thank you.
Appreciate it. They have written their own software. It takes Gcode on a tablet where it runs.
We may be headed towards one of the CAD programs as there is no documentation for anything for theirs.
So Inkscape for creation. Convert to Gcode in Inkscape. Send file to google drive. Open on tablet. And end up with not what we were expecting. At all.

Re: Gcode help
I looked at the file and there are a few things I saw, look at the attached images and the nodes that are pointed at seem like they are a problem.
One place looks a double line and some looked like double nodes, and the stars look very small for cutting.
I only look at a small part of the drawing, if you are cutting this with a plasma the stroke is very large at 0.059" I normally use less than 0.005".

Re: Gcode help
I found other things if you go to layers there are 2, layer 1 copy copy and layer 1 copy. if you turn off layer 1 copy copy there are other nodes under it.

Re: Gcode help
At this point we are willing to pay someone to just help us get a gcode file. We've started from scratch so may times and get a different result every time.

Re: Gcode help
Saw this and you had me at "Behind on a deadline." So I took a minute to see if I could help, at least be sure you had a good drawing. Of course all was as Jester stated and has been corrected. This'll give you something to compare with in Inkscape and hopefully help with the learning process as well.
