I would appreciate if someone would show me how to add different colors to this DXF file and the background without a line around it after importing the DXF file. The "V" will be on top. Thanks

Re: How to color a DXF file
Why do you want "different colours"?? are you asking about layer colours or something
what software are you using (oh! Inkscape sorry didnt see the thread.... each of the elements are on a different layer (V, inside cut, outside cut)

Re: How to color a DXF file
Thank you. Here is what I am after.....did this in Inkscape. I want to fill each with different colors and eliminate the black border so customers can see what it will look like painted up. Finally figured out how to use the fill bucket.....doesn't look great. I may have to purchase Corel Draw because it will do this nicely if I remember correctly.

Re: How to color a DXF file
When working with colors with as large your lines are you go to "fill and stroke" an select a fill color and then a stroke color. If both are the same you will have a solid color. You are in the right place just when in stroke click on the box next to the X box, now to have exactly the same color there is a box with the color number select a color and copy that number and in the other field paste that number.

If you decide to go with Corel that is super easy. Just choose No Outline and Solid Fill with your selected color.

Re: How to color a DXF file
here is a video of how i made the render in inkscape, it's my first video tutorial in about ten years, so it's probably not a very good one but here goes.
1: a couple things your going to need to know first backup/save your original cut file, because applying effects to them, can sometimes make them not import correctly back into sheetcam etc, so backup copy and paste rename etc, but don't blame me if you don't save your original cut file because chances are once you've saved it with fill effects shadows etc it won't cut right..
2: your going to need a pattern/sample image of what you want the paths to look like, multiple samples if you have a multi layered image etc, I'm including the ones in the video but if your wanting different colors etc replace the steps with your own images, and a background image.
3:when its showing the key presses in the video ignore the caps button sorry about that fat fingers and a small keyboard LOL..
