Plasma Guys,
I have a constant battle with the 0-30 fault code on my PM65. I talked to the Hypertherm tech line and learned how to enter the advanced screen and run the gas test. The code shows as a 0-30. The volume/pressure results of the gas test showed OK, but also showed (via a mirror under the torch) that I was getting some moisture and oil through the lines. Changing my filter setup fixed that, and I thought it was fixed. But the code continues to pop up on almost every project. I have tried regulating the open-circuit pressure from 80 to 110 psi, with no change. At this point I do not think it is a volume/pressure problem.
Probably 80% of the time it happens right after the air compressor kicks on. It also seems worse (but may not actually be) with 45A nozzles as opposed to 65A. It also seems better with brand-new consumables, but after only 100 or so pierces it is back to at least one stop per project.
I'm open to any ideas to help me resolve this, I'm going to continue my conversation with Hypertherm as well.
Thanks,
Bill

Have you tried replacing the swirl ring? It acts as a bearing that the electrode slides inside. I have had this error in the past and switched the swirl ring and it seemed to help.

If a 0-30 persists and the normal checks (consumables, air) and the relay isnt bouncing it can be a bad board in the hypertherm. A big blast of power from your service will do that. There is a test for the board for qualified repair personell. I would recommend you contact hypertherm tech.

I'll escalate with HT if I have to. The machine is only 2 months old.BTA Plasma wrote: ↑Sun Jan 27, 2019 6:25 pm If a 0-30 persists and the normal checks (consumables, air) and the relay isnt bouncing it can be a bad board in the hypertherm. Re: Need Help with PM65 0-30 Fault
To me it looks like the blowback part of the torch assembly (the electrode) is maybe sticking (dirt, crud, build up of debris) on the inside of the swirl ring.... but I'm no expert....
have you changed the swirl ring?

Re: Need Help with PM65 0-30 Fault
0-30 causes, somewhat in order:
1. low inlet pressure under dynamic (air flowing at the torch) conditions. Gauge hard plumbed to the inlet is the only way to measure this.
2. worn out swirl ring.
3. Non genuine consumables....especially electrode and nozzle.
4. Worn out electrode.
5. piercing too close to the plate, especially with fine cut consumables. (this can pinch off torch air flow....which disallows the movement of the blowback electrode.
6. Internal air leak or solenoid valve issues (pretty rare, but occasionally happens).

Thanks! Mine is the 0-30-0, this gives me a path to follow. I picked up a new swirl ring at noon.jimcolt wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:35 am 0-30 causes, somewhat in order:

Thanks for the info, very helpful. I'm sure we'll get it sorted out soon.robertspark wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 10:02 am To me it looks like the blowback part of the torch assembly (the electrode) is maybe sticking (dirt, crud, build up of debris) on the inside of the swirl ring.... but I'm no expert....
