slag buid up on the sheild while using fine cuts

im cutting 16ga cr with fine cuts and the slag is building up on the shield as its cutting messing up cuts. any help would be great thanks!!

I have read on some of the threads on Plasma Spider that people are using Mig splatter spray to reduce the sticking of the slag to the plasma cutter shield.

Try raising you Pierce height control. Or you cut to plate distance which might be arc voltage. Hope this helps

In addition to pierce height,have you confirmed that you are at the correct cut height - might be your z axis offset is off. I use a feeler gauge from time to time to check it. Also, the MIG antisplatter dip is a great tip - really helps avoid issues with Aluminum and heavy gauge steel where the speeds are slow.

That's just part of the game with finecuts, IMO. Builds up on that shield much faster / more annoyingly than on the regular shield.

I've tried all ways and the best so far for me is to ditch ohmic and go unshielded, I actually think you get a better cut and less problems.
