engraving option uses

Post by wyopower »

Hello, i have new arclight 4x8 on order, taking delivery july 17th. Anyway, i have a few questions if some one could help me.
On the engraving option, can you use different bits or cutters to do this, or only use what comes with it.
Will be engraving on steel, and some times brass. mostly words and numbers.

One more question, it has the hyperthem 85 cutter, will a 50 amp breaker be large enough. Most steel will be 1/4 or 3/8", but occasionally will cut some 1/2" inch.
thanks
Mac

Typically "engraving" indicates a rotary tool that is stationary vertically . Plate marking is using a pneumatic marking tool. It pecks thousands of tiny holes using a carbide pointed scribe. Changing e the cutter shape will not help. A rotary engraver is similar to a router but it typically uses a V shaped engraving tool and cuts lines of a width defined by the tool and the depth of the cut. . Engraving is different that routing and carving that can take different tools and do shaped (quasi 3D) type cutting to a depth)
